Cars Land

Welcome to the Cars Land page.
As most of you know Larry the Cable Guy plays the voice of Mator in the hit Disney movie Cars and Cars 2. Since the construction of Cars Land, Larry has recorded seven original songs for the new land.

Signs are literally popping up all around Cars Land and there are a lot more that are still to come. We’re working fast and furious  to bring Cars Land to life. This sign for Ramone’s will eventually be topped with neon so what you see here is our sign painter working his magic.
The pictures below are from behind the wall at the new Cars Land. It took the imagoneres several months to figure out how to make those rocks look aged. In the end it was definitely worth it.

By far one of the things Walt Disney World Resort guests are looking forward to in this new year is the debut of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
Walt Disney Imagineers are currently working on developing icon characters that can be seen throughout the themed courtyards at the resort, including Ramone from the movie “Cars.”
In this video, Imagineers Ryan Parrish and Bill Hanus explain how they transform movie characters into icons that guests will be able to interact with at the resort. The clip also features Chip Foose, the automotive designer who created the flame design for Ramone in the film, who explains how he’s applying Ramone’s flames to this icon.
With all the changes taking place at Cars Land at Disney California Adventure park, one of the developments that we all look forward to is ride testing. It’s really fun seeing the ride engineers fire up the mechanical systems for the first time – it’s such a huge milestone!
One of our attractions that is just now entering daily ride testing is Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree where baby tractors twirl and swing around, pulling trailers behind them (that’s where you get to sit). When completed, the tractors will appear to be dancing to songs that Mater is singing – they just can’t help themselves!
In addition to starting the ride testing, they've been making some other big changes to this area with the installation of the marquee and a huge new set piece – Mater’s Junkyard Jukebox. Take a look and see all the great work that’s being done in Mater’s junkyard.
One of the biggest show pieces – the leaning tower of tires in front of Luigi’s Casa della Tires – was installed recently. It was a big production as they literally parked a crane in the middle of the job site to lift the tires into place! Cathy Ritenour, the production designer, was responsible for ensuring the tower was fabricated and installed to specifications. Cathy gives a little more explanation about the tower in the video above that I think you’ll find interesting.

Elsewhere in Radiator Springs, the round facade of Flo’s V8 Cafe is recognizable, and across the street (pictured below) Sally’s Cozy Cones are springing up.
